How do I create a group?
Open EasySplit, tap the "Create Group" button on the Groups screen, enter a group name and optional description, then invite members via their email address, phone number, or by sharing an invite link. Members who sign in with the invited email will automatically join the group.
How do I split an expense?
Inside a group, tap "Add Expense." Enter the description, total amount, and who paid. Then choose how to split: equally among all members, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares. You can also exclude specific members from a split. Confirm the details and the expense will be added to the group balance.
How does AI receipt scanning work?
Tap the camera icon when adding an expense and take a photo of your receipt (or upload from gallery). Our AI analyzes the receipt image to extract the merchant name, line items, and total amount. This creates an editable draft — review the parsed details, adjust anything the AI got wrong, choose how to split, and tap "Confirm" to finalize the expense. The AI never creates expenses automatically.
How do I settle debts?
Go to the group's balance view to see who owes whom. Tap on a balance to see settlement options. If the recipient has added their UPI ID, you can tap "Pay via UPI" to open your UPI app with the amount pre-filled. After payment, mark the settlement as completed in EasySplit. Both parties can see the settlement in the group timeline.
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This will permanently remove your profile, expense history, and all associated data. You can also request deletion through our website at easysplit.akash-deep.com/delete-account or by emailing support@akash-deep.com. Account deletion is processed within 30 days.
Why can't I see my groups?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Google account you used when joining the group. If you recently received an invite, try pulling down to refresh the groups list. If the issue persists, check if the group admin may have removed you. For offline access, groups you've previously loaded are available even without internet — but new invites require a connection to sync.
Is my financial data secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We never store your payment credentials — UPI VPAs are only used to generate payment links. Authentication uses Google OAuth with secure JWT tokens. See our Security page for full details.
Can I use EasySplit offline?
Yes, the mobile app supports offline mode. You can view your groups, balances, and add expenses while offline. Changes sync automatically when you reconnect. Receipt scanning requires an internet connection since it uses cloud-based AI processing.
